Cancer treatment can be one of the most difficult chapters in a person’s life. Through my Doctor of Oriental Medicine training at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine, I studied in oncology acupuncture, focusing on its role as safe, supportive care option during cancer treatment. Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting many patients going through rigors of chemotherapy. I have witnessed their strength, courage, and resilience. I have also seen the fatigue, discomfort, and emotional weight that often accompany this journey. During this time, patients should not have to worry about finding affordable supportive care or navigating complicated insurance barriers. What they deserve most is compassion, comfort, and a place where they feel supported. Whether you are preparing for treatment, currently undergoing chemotherapy, or recovering afterward, our goal is to walk alongside you with care, respect, and understanding.
Before treatment begins, many people feel worried, tense, tired, and not ready for what is coming. This phase is important. The body and mind do better when they are more supported before the first treatment starts.
Acupuncture support before treatment may help with:
This means helping the body become more steady and supported before treatment starts. The goal is to help you feel stronger, calmer, and better prepared.
Recommended schedule:
1 treatment per week for 2–4 weeks before treatment begins (if time allows)
During chemotherapy, radiation, or other cancer treatment, many people face side effects that make daily life much harder. Acupuncture may help reduce discomfort and support overall well-being during this time.
Common reasons people seek support during treatment include:
During this phase, care should always be thoughtful, gentle, and based on your condition that day. Treatment may need to change depending on how you feel and what your medical team advises.
Recommended schedule:
1 treatment per week during active treatment
Frequency may be adjusted depending on each patient’s energy level and treatment schedule.
Even when treatment is over, healing often continues for a long time. Many people are told they should feel grateful treatment is done, but in truth, recovery can still be hard. The body may still feel tired, sore, sensitive, and out of balance. The mind may still carry fear and stress.
Acupuncture support after treatment may help with:
Recovery is not only about lab numbers. It is also about energy, mood, comfort, digestion, sleep, and feeling like yourself again.
Recommended schedule:
1–2 treatments per month during recovery
• Gentle acupuncture
• Gentle Lymphatic drainage cupping and massage
•TCM herbal and food therapy
•TCM lifestyle guide
Treatments are always adapted to the patient’s energy level and comfort.
• warm
• gentle
• affordable
• personalized
• respectful of your medical care
Every person’s path is different. Some patients need support before treatment. Some need help during chemotherapy. Some need care after treatment to rebuild their strength and daily quality of life. Many need support through all three phases. If you or a loved one is going through cancer treatment and looking for gentle supportive care, we would be honored to help.
Important Note: Acupuncture is not a treatment for cancer itself. It is used as a complementary therapy to support comfort and overall well-being during conventional medical care. Patients should always continue working closely with their oncology team.
